About Rate My Rent
Know what an apartment really costs before you sign.
Rate My Rent shows what students actually pay for off-campus housing, reported by students themselves rather than copied from landlord listings. Compare buildings, spot a fair price and walk into lease season knowing the numbers. It's built for UT Austin, with Michigan and Texas A&M too.
REAL RENTS FROM STUDENTS • What students pay at each building, by layout, next to the campus average • Leased vs. listed: what people pay compared with the asking price • Utilities, parking, ratings and what students say about living there • Share your own rent anonymously to unlock everyone else's. Give to get.
THE HOOK'EM HEAT MAP • Every building on one map, colored by what students pay • Filter by layout, price and parking • Tap a pin to see the building, its rents and its walk to class
EXPLORE • Trending buildings, the newest rents and the most-reported places near campus • Search by building name, nickname or neighborhood • Building pages with photos, floor plans, amenities, reviews and directions
DEALS • Leasing specials and apartments priced under their area's typical rent • Every saving checked against real numbers, not a landlord's "was" price • What students got when they renewed
SAVED • Save the places you're considering, synced with the website • Compare 2–4 buildings side by side • Send your list to roommates as a link
MY LEASE • Your rent due date, lease dates, roommates and rent split, kept on your phone • A reminder the night before rent is due • Renewal and move-out reminders before your lease ends • Add move-out day to your calendar
NOTIFICATIONS, WIDGETS AND SIRI • Hear when a student shares a new rent at a building you saved • A weekly digest of what students shared near campus • Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets for your rent countdown and campus rents • Ask Siri "When is my rent due?"
